four days to rome

Ok so we have officially started the countdown towards my leaving. It still seems unreal, maybe because I made the decision to go relatively quickly, but in any case it hasn't fully settled in yet. I've just been autopiloting really, seeing what needs to be done and just doing it. I have a sense of everything really working out at the end of it for some reason, though before that I know I'll have hassle after hassle, especially until I actually settle in, sort out my finances (big YIKES there...) and get the hang of the job over there and everything. Yesterday I asked a couple of people over to Marleys just to say goodbye to them.....for some reason it never quite clicked into my head as to the reason why they were all there until Matthew left. Everyone was wishing me well and all telling me that it was about time, because it's something I've been saying I'd do for ages now. Those were Becky's first words to me... "I'm really happy you're going!"...once we got over how funny that sounded she told me that she was really happy for me because she knew it was what I needed at this point in my life, and it really is. It isn't really something that can be explained, because in all honesty I know that logic says I should stay over here and save money to be able to follow my masters at Brunel from September....but I guess sometimes you have feelings which are so strong, and you're so completely sure of them, that they need to be followed even if logic might disagree at first. I suppose I'm just going with the flow and seeing where my intuition takes me at the moment. After these last few months, I'm learning to trust it.

Ok enough deep stuff.....on a more practical note...just got my accomodation confirmed in rome!! Have a really great apartment in a good area of Rome (Piazza bologna....v.central), sharing with four other girls, one of whom is Maltese....Veronica...who I've been speaking to for the past couple of days ever since I found out that she might have a room vacant at her place, and we've been getting along quite well so I have a good feeling about it all and I really can't wait now! Also, today I went by EC to tell everybody bye.....got a hug from Nadya (nice surprise) and was made to promise to go back in July (which I was going to do anyway). The sweetest thing of that visit was probably when I went to drop by my old classroom. All of my students were there, and they had all written in a card for me. I started reading what they wrote and I couldn't stop a short tear from going down....they were all so sweet and genuine...I'll just never forget them. Hope my students in Rome will be half as sweet.
